The area of Czech Republic is nearly
80.000 sq kms* and over 10 million people live there.
The Czech economy is undergoing changes
to reconstruct it into free market systém. The country hopes that it will become
a parner state of Europe. New firms try to contact new trading parners all
around the worls.
The most important part of our economy
is engeneering (machine tools, locomotives, tractors, agricultural machines).
Other important branches are metalurgical and chemical industries and tourism.
Textile and glass industries have a long tradition. The main items of our
agriculture are wheat, maize, sugar beat, grapes, hops and fruit. In animal
production cattle-breading and pig-breading are the most important.
Fish-breading, estecially carp-breading, has a long tradition in South Bohemia
ponds.
The CZ lies in the middle of Europe. It
borders with Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria.
The major nationalities living here are
Czech and Moravian.
