Besides L. there are mayny other
fascinating places: Oxford and Cambridge – are the old university town,
Stratford – upon – Avon – is the brithplace of William Shakespeare. Southern
part of England is full of historical monuments. Noth of England is mainly an
industrial area. In the past, there the industrial revolution mainly developed
– especially textile and coal – mining industries. This part of England is
sometimes called „Black Country“. The important industrial cities are
Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield and York. The Lake District National
Park – there is the beautiful Windermere Lake. This area is popular with
painters, tourists, the lakes are good for water sports (windsurfing). Scotland
– it has its own education systém and currency (the value is the same, but
banknotes have different design). Scotland is the land of many special
traditions (wearing kilts made of tartan, Scotch whisky = „the water of life“).
The biggest city in Schotland is Glasgow
(there the international Jazz Festival takes place).
Edinburgh – is the city of elegant
shopping centres like Princess Street. The North of the country is a large lake
and mountain area. The biggest lake is Loch Lamond and Loch Ness is famous for
its „Loch Ness Monster“.
